About Equipment Modes and States

OEE Downtime module organizes equipment status with Equipment Method and Equipment State.

Equipment Mode captures the higher level status of the equipment answering the question: What are we doing with the equipment e.g., Production, Maintenance, Changeover.

Equipment State represents the local status of a line or the cells, i.e., equipment on the line.

Equipment Modes

Equipment Modes are organized by Equipment Mode Types:

  • Production
  • Idle
  • Changeover
  • Maintenance
  • Other
  • Disabled

These types are provided with OEE and are not changeable.

Equipment States

Equipment States are organized by Equipment State Types:

  • Unplanned Downtime
  • Planned Downtime
  • Blocked
  • Starved
  • Running
  • Idle
  • Disabled

Any number of states can be created based on these types.

Why Use Modes

Information

Allow for a more granular analysis of equipment utilization such as:

  • Analyze how much time a line spends in each mode, such maintenance, training, changeover. Also to analyze the equipment states within configured modes of running, blocked, idle, faulted.
  • Capture run hours on equipment to determine maintenance scheduling and other activities.
