Success

There are fundamental steps to making a successful connection and moving data to and from SAP.  Engaging with the SAP team early in the process is required for any successful integration to SAP.  The following items will be needed from the SAP team as a starting point to your project:

  • Someone in your organization with an SAP account will need to procure the latest JCo library from SAP. The download should match the operating system and architecture (e.g., x64) of the server that the Ignition Gateway is running on. Additional information is available here: JCo Library for SAP

  • An SAP user must be created in the development server and given proper authorization to call the BAPIs and Remote-enabled Function Modules (RFMs) that will be required by the product. During development, it's easiest to provide elevated access rights (e.g., SAP_ALL). Additional information is available here: SAP Permissions

  •  In addition to the username and password of the user created above, you will need the information below to connect the Interface for SAP ERP module in Ignition to the development SAP server. Additional information is available here: SAP Destinations
        1. Host (IP address or FQDN)
