Preparing before Configuring MES Enterprise Network

Considerations before Configuring

  • Module Versions

To take advantage of the data recovery and self-healing features of the Sepasoft MES Enterprise network,  the communication protocol that is installed on each server (within the Production module of the Sepasoft MES Suite) needs to be up-to-date and on the same version number .  Upgrade First

Version Specific

Warning

3.81.9 RC2 and later for MES Enterprise Network data recovery and self-healing features.

Reference this Knowledge Base article to understand how different module versions can be used together within a Sepasoft MES Enterprise network:

Verify the Sepasoft MES Module versions.

  • In Ignition 8.3, go to Platform > System > Modules.
  • In Ignition 8.1, go to Gateway > Modules.
  • Access
    • Ensure all gateways are visible by their parent AND the Enterprise Root (these may be the same GW). For best results all gateways should have a GAN connection to their parent.

Inductive Automation Ignition Specific

Information

See Setting Up GAN on the Inductive Automation Ignition website for setup details.

    • The root server cannot add equipment in MES Enterprise Settings > Hierarchy > Equipment. Root server manages any gateways that are not owned by another gateway server. For example if another gateway doesn't 'take' site 1, root gateway manages site 1. Additionally, you cannot lock which gateways can 'take' Site 1 currently.
  • Redundancy

If redundancy is enabled, gateways also need connections to the redundant backup.

Data Sync in MES Enterprise Network

Equipment can be synced up from Site Servers and synced down from an Enterprise Root Server. Data metrics are provided in the Tag Browser under MES Metrics and within the MES Monitor component. Data retention policies are set within the advanced settings.
